Ever heard about,

“@lee theory / 7 Swarangal”

Both the concept has the same meaning. For example, Indian classical music has only seven musical scale notes; when you look at the @lee movies, you can find similar story plots with different movie names.

Similarly, there are only a few business concepts available in the market. So how you refactor them and cover all the edge cases, and launching them is what matters.

A few days back, one of the biggest giants in the industry was done a huge marketing stunt. The company copied ends to end concepts from another company launched without guilt, just how @lee copies all the movies and gives blockbusters.

When the government announced this news, the Jio developers came up with fresh new concepts. (I am penning the conversation here about how they came up with this brilliant idea…)

PM: Guys! we need to develop a video conferencing app. Our government is planning to replace Zoom and we need to launch the app within July

Dev: Boss seriously? It’s really hard to launch within july

BA: Bro instead we can just copy everything from them and rename it as JioMeet. How is this boss?

PM: Great! We will call it as Indian Zoom

Dev: Haha, then we can launch within this week boss :)

The best thing about this is the developers had to spend only a few hours on this! And I am seriously wondering how they call this “Indian Zoom,” guys, literally this Zoom:(. The fun part Jio Meet allows 24hours long meetings, just how they promoted Jio Sim with free data.

With all the resources and the time, they had to build a fresh, neat, and interactive app, but they came up with a product like this. I am looking at this from a very different perspective, this would provide an easy way out from Zoom to those looking for an Indian product, and this was just the right time for this!

However, this suddenly became a trend all over India, and everyone knows about the brand new Jio meet without any marking campaigns. This is so cool, right? Again Jio proved that marketing is everywhere you have to pick and penetrate based on your need; whether it’s good or not, that doesn’t matter. Maybe they may change the features and UI in the future, but copying everything for branding and taking all the credits without any guilt isn’t a wondrous thing, though. Just because the app is Indian made it doesn’t mean they can’t steal your data or do unethical background activities, So be careful.
